This workshop is designed to provide participants with an understanding of using play therapy as a therapeutic approach for children with ADHD. Participants will delve into the theoretical foundations of play therapy and its relevance in addressing ADHD symptoms. Practical strategies for creating engaging and effective play therapy sessions will be explored, including techniques for enhancing emotional regulation, attention, and social skills.
Learning Objectives
Participants will be able to:
- Describe the principles of play therapy and its application in treating ADHD in children.
- Discuss effective strategies for engaging children with ADHD in therapeutic play therapy sessions.
- Explain techniques for improving emotional regulation and attention span through play therapy interventions.

VIRTUAL: This will be a virtual presentation. Participants are asked to be visible (video on) throughout the presentation to facilitate engagement and will be awarded 3 APT Non-Contact CE upon successful completion of a post test.
FAPT is approved by the Association for Play Therapy to offer continuing education specific to Play Therapy. APT Approved Provider 02-115. FAPT maintains responsibility for the program. Registrants understand and agree that any photograph (screenshot), video or audio recording of themselves may be used to further promote FAPT.
FAPT is approved by the Florida Department of Health under FL Statute 491 to offer continuing education for Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists and Mental Health Counselors. Provider Number BAP-50-10520 expires 03/31/2027. FAPT is approved by the Florida Department of Health under FL Statute 490 to offer continuing education for Psychologists. Provider Number BAP-50-10520 expires 05/31/2026.
Cancellation Policy: All cancellations must be requested in writing and received no later than June 20, 2025. Cancellations are subject to a $15 processing fee. Substitutions (someone else attending) or transfer of registration to another training date may be requested.
About our presenter: Mary Rottier, Ed.D, LPC, RPT-S™, CAAPT-S-I is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor™ with offices in Michigan and Georgia. She has over 20 years of clinical experience with an emphasis on providing counseling services to children, adolescents, and their families. She has focused her work on helping kids grow in confidence, character, and creativity using a child-centered approach to therapy. She is certified in a variety of different types of therapy including Animal Assisted Play Therapy® and Sandtray Therapy. She presents both nationally and internationally on these topics and specializes in abuse, trauma, anxiety, and attachment issues. She also enjoys supervising and teaching other therapists.
